CORONATION Street fans have spotted a comedy legend making a shock appearance on the soap.
Benidorm creator Derren Litten appeared on the cobbles as Maria Connor’s political nemesis Bernard Barnes.
Viewers know that hairdresser Maria has launched her political campaign to get elected onto the local council.
Maria is determined to save the Red Rec from the developers and cut air pollution in Weatherfield.
She blitzed through Sally Metcalfe after catching her agreeing to a bung from a property developer and now she faces the local elections.
Tonight she came face to face with her biggest competition while she was giving an interview to a local journalist.

He turned up at Maria’s photoshoot with James Bailey and another Weatherfield County player.
Successfully stealing the limelight, Bernard left Maria crestfallen.
“I don’t stand any chance of winning, do I?” she asked husband Gary.
But before she had the chance to pull out, she got a text from Phill who had a hail Mary for her.
“He says he’s found something interesting and he wants to meet me tomorrow,” she said, intrigued.
But her clash with Bernard had fans shocked at who he was played by.
One wrote: “It’s @DerrenLitten the creator of Benidorm on #Corrie.”
A second said: “It’s @DerrenLitten in #Corrie ….”

Since Benidorm ended in 2018 after 10 series, Derren created a BBC sitcom Scarborough and opened up a Benidorm themed bar in the Spanish town.
The star also made sporadic appearances on screen in the show, most notably as a chauffeur called Elvis.
