A CAR expert has revealed a little-known car key trick that can help women stay safe while driving.
TikToker Chequanxiaoqiao has explained how a little-known trick with your car keys can trigger a nifty safety feature in many modern cars.
In the video she explains that all you have to do is press and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time for five seconds.
This switches on a setting that locks all of the doors except the front door on the driver’s side.
After that, if you press the unlock button upon returning to the car, only the driver-side door will open.
The video explained: “Girls who often drive alone be sure to set this function take out the car keys simultaneously press the lock button and unlock button on the key
“Hold for 5 seconds. The function of only opening the left front door has been successfully set.
“Press the unlock button again, only the main driver’s door can be opened, the other 3 doors cannot be opened.”
She also explained how to start your car even when your electric key fob has seemingly died.
Battery-powered fobs do eventually run out of power, but that doesn’t mean that you are stranded.
The expert revealed that, in many modern cars, there is an “emergency” sensor built into the steering column to account for this situation.
Place the fob against the steering column just beneath the indicator and press your car’s ignition button while holding down the brake.
It comes after another motors expert explained why drivers hate EVs and advised against buying one.
Meanwhile, a pensioner claimed she was fined £100 for parking just an inch over the bay outline and vowed to fight the penalty in court.
