SHOPPERS have spotted a new Easter treat on the shelves at Sainsbury’s – and it’s left them divided.
The spring season brings with it chocolate eggs and hot cross buns but the supermarket’s latest edition to the holiday line up breaks new ground.
In an unusual mixing of sweet and savoury, you can buy carrot sticks and CHOCOLATE flavoured houmous.
Sainsbury’s On the Go Easter Bunny Snack– Carrots & Chocolate Flavoured Houmous was spotted on the shop shelves by food fan Kevs Snack Reviews.
Sharing the post on his Facebook group, not everyone thought it was such an egg-cellent snack.
One commenter said: “Please Jesus come back soon. Just throw the whole world in the bin and be done. You’ve taken it too far.”


Another said “this sounds horrible” and a third “no, just no”.
But some more adventurous foodies said they want to try it – “a bit of me” one added.
The carrot and choc hoomous dip is in stores now and is vegan friendly.
It costs £1 or you can choose it as part of Sainsbury’s £3.50 meal deal along with a main and drink.
Sainsbury’s isn’t the only supermarket selling a creative new treat either.
Tesco has launched hot cross SCONES for Easter throwing together two British tea time classics.
The supermarket has blueberry flavoured hot cross buns on offer this year too, plus hot cross bun bread and butter pudding.
This year Costa is selling hot cross flavour Lattes as part of its Easter menu line up.
Last year you could buy a posh Easter egg on Amazon flavoured with tomato, beetroot, sweetcorn, spinach and carrot.
Shoppers last year went wild for a more conventional flavour – Cadbury’s white chocolate Oreo Easter egg.


Asda has previously sold a Marmite flavour Easter egg.
